Project to build three day centers for the severely disabled
Day Center for Adults with Disabilities
Many people with severe physical disabilitieslive at home with their families. One of the most critical issues for thesepeople is the creation of a daily routine with meaningful activities andopportunities for social interaction. A person with severe disabilities cansuffer from loneliness, a sense of uselessness and boredom as well asdependency. This situation can lead to emotional crises as well as physicaldeterioration.
TheIlan Day Center will offer people with severe disabilities living in thecommunity a framework of daily activities and services such as therapeutic careincluding physical and occupational therapy as well as enrichment activitiessuch as arts and crafts, design, computers, etc. In addition, individualtutoring and small classes will be offered in subjects of interest to theparticipants. The Center will operate five days a week from 9 am until 3 pm.
Byproviding a welcoming environment with essential activities and therapies thatstimulate the participants, Ilan's Day Center will enrich the lives of peoplewith severe disabilities, creating an accepting and comfortable socialframework.
Thismodel was initiated in Beersheba and Haifa with great success and Ilan-Israelis now interested in expanding the program in cooperation with the IsraeliMinistry of Welfare, therefore it established the 2 new similar centers inJerusalem and Tel Aviv. These 2 Centers are located in temporary housing andthe construction process of 2 new buildings in Tel Aviv and in Jerusalem (+1new building to remove the Haifa Center to a more appropriate venue) has begun.The estimated cost of a building is $2,500,000 including all the necessary equipment.
Ilan-Israel would like to interestpotential philanthropists who are concerned about the needs of people withsevere physical disabilities in Israel in being a significant component of thisinitiative.
Highlyvisible donor recognition shall encourage contributions for any one of thethree planned locations. A range of naming opportunities can be proposed ateach site according to the size of the contribution, from building naming foroutstanding donation to donor recognition on contributors wall plaque.According to that, in Jerusalem we will be pleased to offer the building namingaccording to the donor's wish for a donation of over $1,000,000. In Haifa and Tel Aviv, a recognition plaquecan be placed inside the building.
