ILAN's summer camps
Every year, ILAN organizes summer camps for physically disabled children in rural surroundings all over the country. This project offers entertainment during the long summer vacation to several hundreds of children and youth every year.
Various Kibbutzim and Moshavim volunteer to host the children for a whole week of sleep-in camps, with full accommodation, all inclusive. During this week, the children enjoy a wide variety of activities, such as sports, swimming pool, horseback riding and more, all accessible to the disabled. In addition, they are offered different activities like shows, workshops and trips.
These camps provide the handicapped children opportunities for meeting their peers and for new social encounters with young people from all over the country. Furthermore, a whole week of managing outside the family units is a significant contribution to their self confidence. Finally, not only the children look forward to these summer camps; their parents also eagerly anticipate the prospect of a short break from a daily demanding care.
The responses received every year in the ILAN headquarters, both from the parents and from the volunteers are positive and enthusiastic.
