An inflammatory disease of the central nervous system that is caused by damage to the insulating material of the nerve fibers.
This is a neurological disease with an unknown background that mainly affects young people over the age of 20. The disease is expressed in damage to the white matter of the nerve cells as a result of destruction of the myelin layer that protects them and transmits communication signals between the central nervous system and the nerves to other parts of the body... The damage appears in various areas of the nervous system in the brain and in the spinal cord, and its course is difficult to predict. The symptoms are progressive muscular weakness and deterioration of coordination functions, perception, vision, speech memory and mobility.
